Sticks & Stones

You can only let someone throw so many stones at you before you pick them all up, put them together and build a wall to keep them from doing it again.

Sticks and Stones

Stones are just a metaphor,
as are barbs, knives, bullets
and other hurtful manifestations of perception.

Metaphors pass through a clear spirit.
No harm.
No armor or defences required.

Unless you allow your mind to manifest them.

Statesmen can’t afford to cast their disagreements in stone… altho lesser politicians oftentimes do….

This resonates with me. In the context, tho, I’d quote the words, “barbs, knives, bullets”… 🙂

Hello Mevina. Thank you for posting. =)

[smile] Attack ads are nothing but metaphorical projectiles hurled in desperation. Unfortunately, it seems no politician can resist that desperate urge these days.

[grin] re: on quoting. Literally, perhaps you’re right. But I find the use of quotes in this way to be a bit of a bludgeon. 😉
